She Shoots: supporting the Pacific's next generation of visual storytellers
Plenty is written about gender gaps – and how while some glass ceilings are being broken across industries – others remain intact. And the media sector has been a big part of the conversation in recent years.
ABC's International Development team recently piloted a new program to give Pacific women a greater leadership role behind the camera. She Shoots Pacific recently completed its first pilot in the Pacific, with Fane Ledua, a Fiji Times multimedia journalist, taking part in the first placement. As part of She Shoots, Fane spent time learning with ABC technical and content teams in Brisbane, before a number of days embedded with the Landlineteam in Cairns.
Here's a feature story and video I produced to support this pilot.
